ING Netherlands has appointed Tom Degen as the new Director of Housing. He succeeds Folkert van der Ploeg, who will take on the role of Head of Private Individuals at ING in Italy from June.
Degen, a veteran of ING, started his career at the sofa twelve years ago as a trainee. Since then he has held several positions within marketing.
In his previous role as Head of Business Development, he was responsible for the business development of ING's sales channels and branch network. He led the transformation to a smaller branch network and promoted remote advice. Degen also worked as Business Manager for the CEO from ING Netherlands.
As Commercial Director Mortgages, a position he has held since June 2022, he was the driving force behind a new organizational model focused on the best digital customer experience and local entrepreneurship. He also worked to improve services to customer segments such as entrepreneurs and expats.
In addition to his work at ING, Degen is a board member of the Certified Mortgage Advisor Foundation.
Işıl Evlioğlu, Head of Private Individuals at ING Netherlands, praises Degen for his adaptability and willingness to take on challenges. “He has proven to be a driving force for change, something he combines with a constant growth mindset and optimism,” says Evlioğlu.
“I am confident that Tom will play a key role in achieving our ambitious mortgage goals, including significant commercial growth and sustainability leadership,” added Evlioğlu.
